Brand Identity, Event Promotion
Studio Grand was a nonprofit multi-use space that supported local families, youth, emerging and established artists by hosting a mix of music, performance, educational, visual art classes and events. Studio Grand’s programming centered around leadership and programming for historically marginalized communities including people of color, immigrant, and LGBTQ communities.

I had a conversation with the owner about what she wanted express about the space and how we could do that through her logo. I presented her with various font styles that were reflective of the conversation we had. The font she connected to was ‘Otsuki Sama’. She wanted to use the actual font — a challenge as it is a thin font. To make it work, I took the type into Illustrator and thickened it up so that it would be more legible.
